The Australian Maternal Mental Health Alliance (AMMHA) was formed on 16th October 2024 with the aim of bringing together like-minded organisations from around Australia all advocating for large scale change in perinatal mental health.

The African Women's Federation of SA (AWFOSA) are partnering with the Fay Fuller Foundation and Flinders University Researchers to understand Birth Trauma for women in the CALD community of South Australia. Our Maternal Health Care Project 2025-2027 will be a collaborative community led research opportunity deepening our understanding of migrant and refugee's women's pregnancy and birth trauma, and discover and document consequent mental health impacts, creating a pathway for community led healing and restorative practice.
Strong, loving partner relationships are essential for maternal wellbeing and conversely, poor relationship satisfaction has been shown to significantly impact maternal, paternal and infant mental health. However, relationship preparation and support are beyond the scope of traditional maternal care. Becoming Us provides perinatal relationship education for multi-disciplinary care providers and a range of courses and resources for parents to grow their relationship as their family grows. Through bridging this critical gap in prevention and early intervention, together we can support the mental, emotional and relational wellbeing of the whole family.
COPE is a national organisation dedicated to supporting the implementation of best practice through the development of Australia’s National Guideline. Through COPE’s innovative digital approaches to psychoeducation, screening and referral, COPE supports the prevention, early detection and timely referral to appropriate perinatal mental health services. disAbility Maternity Care (Inclusive Parenting Ltd) is a not-for-profit organisation with the vision of parents with disabilities being equal and empowered citizens. Our purpose is to support parents with disabilities to succeed through connecting parents to community and services, educating providers and carers, and undertaking relevant research and resource development.
Our staff and organisation have lived experience of disability, value choice and diversity for people with disabilities as parents and are passionate in offering best practice education and services that are individually focused and responsive. We believe that through promoting awareness, partnering with parents with disabilities, and collaborating with other organisations, we can achieve our vision.

We promote positive parenting for fathers and father figures and give new Dads the support and connection they need. Our early intervention approach provides new Fathers with positive social relationships and easier pathways to health services if they need them. dadsgroup.org

The Healthy Attachment Australia & New Zealand (HAANZ) supports research collaborations and enables connections among practitioners and researchers. Mums Matter Psychology provides bulk-billed perinatal mental health services nationally across Australia. We are dedicated to providing accessible and affordable services for all women who are feeling emotionally or mentally challenged by the transition to parenthood regardless of ability to pay.
PANDA – Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia – supports the mental health of parents and families during pregnancy and in their first year of parenthood. PANDA operates Australia’s only National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline for individuals, their families, support people and health care providers. PANDA's phone and online services provide access to expert counselling and information to support mental health and wellbeing, informed by evidence-informed mental healthcare practice, and the expertise of people with a lived experience. PANDA’s vision is a world where perinatal mental health is understood and valued.
The Parent-Infant Research Institute (PIRI) is a not-for-profit independent organization committed to supporting mothers, fathers, partners and babies (0-24 months) to enhance well-being and children’s healthy development: www.piri.org.au
PIRI focuses on development and national delivery of innovative treatments to improve emotional difficulties facing parents and infants, ensuring a strong evidence-base for its treatments.
PIRI leads a NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (STePPS CRE) which aims to drive the development of digital technology for perinatal mental health as a national centre, with international collaborators www.steppscre.org
PIRI also contributes to major public health initiatives by rolling out its suite of evaluated programs including MumMoodBooster e-treatments for perinatal depression (MumSpace initiative funded by the Australian Federal Government www.mumspace.org.au).
Queensland Centre for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (QCPIMH). QCPIMH is leads the advocacy, promotion and research for perinatal and infant mental health in Queensland. This includes supporting healthcare professionals and developing better services for families. The QCPIMH strategically supports the development and sustainability of a statewide perinatal and infant mental health service system in Queensland and provides specialist 0-4 mental health clinical services across Brisbane.

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is the lead standards body in women’s health in Australia and New Zealand, with responsibility for postgraduate education, accreditation, recertification, and the continuing professional development of practitioners in women’s health, including both specialist obstetricians and gynaecologists, and GP obstetricians.
Red Nose is Australia’s leading authority on safe sleep and safer pregnancy advice as well as bereavement support for anyone affected by the loss of a pregnancy, stillbirth or the death of a baby or child.
Tresillian is Australia's largest not-for-profit early parenting service offering families guidance in the early years of their child's life. We support new parents around breastfeeding, nutrition and settling baby, and support recovery from mental health challenges. Through gentle guidance, education and professional support, Tresillian helps give new parents confidence and reassurance.
Villagehood Australia, established in 2020, is South Australia's only registered charity exclusively focused on providing mother-centric peer support during the critical early years of motherhood (0-5 years). Our mission is to protect and promote the mental wellbeing of both mothers and their children, fostering an environment where families can thrive in a nurturing and supportive community. We address a significant gap in maternal support services by offering in-person, peer-led programs designed to create meaningful connections, prioritise maternal mental health, and enhance social engagement. Our grassroots approach is built on evidence-based practices that empower mothers with the confidence, tools, and resilience they need to navigate the challenges of early parenthood. By strengthening the bonds within families and between mothers in the community, we work to build a foundation of mental and emotional health that supports the wellbeing of the next generation.
