Villagehood Australia, established in 2020, is South Australia's only registered charity exclusively focused on providing mother-centric peer support during the critical early years of motherhood (0-5 years). Our mission is to protect and promote the mental wellbeing of both mothers and their children, fostering an environment where families can thrive in a nurturing and supportive community. We address a significant gap in maternal support services by offering in-person, peer-led programs designed to create meaningful connections, prioritise maternal mental health, and enhance social engagement. Our grassroots approach is built on evidence-based practices that empower mothers with the confidence, tools, and resilience they need to navigate the challenges of early parenthood. By strengthening the bonds within families and between mothers in the community, we work to build a foundation of mental and emotional health that supports the wellbeing of the next generation.

Strong, loving partner relationships are essential for maternal wellbeing and conversely, poor relationship satisfaction has been shown to significantly impact maternal, paternal and infant mental health. However, relationship preparation and support are beyond the scope of traditional maternal care. Becoming Us provides perinatal relationship education for multi-disciplinary care providers and a range of courses and resources for parents to grow their relationship as their family grows. Through bridging this critical gap in prevention and early intervention, together we can support the mental, emotional and relational wellbeing of the whole family.
